There were strong winds in Bristol yesterday. Strong enough, that for the first ever time, the Clifton Suspension Bridge was closed to all traffic except pedestrians. A Met Office Yellow ‘Be Aware’ weather warning for rain and wind is in place for tomorrow (14th Feb) and Saturday 15th. There are currently no weather warnings for today. The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for Bristol. A yellow ‘Be Aware’ warning has been issued for tomorrow (12th Feb) for rain, wind and snow in Bristol and for the rest of the South West of England. The Met Office have issued a “Be Aware” yellow warning of Ice in Bristol. The warning, valid for Bristol, Bath, the South West and the entire country except some Eastern areas, is to start from 5pm today up until 10:00 tomorrow morning. Light is at the end of the tunnel… Following last night’s storm that battered parts of Southern England and caused disruption to transport, brighter weather has been forecast for tomorrow (Tues 29th). With highs of 11°C, the Met Office are forecasting Sun all day in Bristol tomorrow, with clear skies tomorrow night. Even better, there are now no weather warnings in place over the next few days in the United Kingdom.

Just after the snow from Friday has started to melt away, the Met Office are warning of more snow to hit the West again. The Met Office are forecasting light snow here in Bristol from around 6 this evening until 9pm, then heavy snow until midnight, and then light snow until 6 tomorrow morning, with more light snow on the forecast from midday tomorrow to 3pm. UPDATE (16/01/13 at 17:58): The Met Office has now upgraded it’s weather warning for Snow to Amber. This means the warning now means ‘Be Prepared’ instead of ‘Be Aware’. 10-15cm of snow ‘could well occur quite widely’ with 25cm or more on higher ground. 15/01/13: Snow has been forecast for Bristol this Friday (18th). Bristol has today seen some snowfall. Although not enough to cause any disruption in the city, at least 1cm of snow has fallen, and there has been a mix of light and heavy snow which has pitched on the ground. The Met Office have issued a yellow warning of snow. The warning is valid from tomorrow – Sunday 29th, to Monday 30th January 2012. The Met Office says that there is the potential for accumulations of several centimeters of snow. The warning covers us here in Bristol & surrounding areas including Bath, with most of the South West, except Cornwall, also covered.
