Google has launched it’s latest Nexus smartphone – the Google Nexus 5.

Now boosting a slimmer and lighter design, the Google Nexus 5 now also has a gorgeous full high definition 5″ screen, along with much faster technologies – it comes with 4G/LTE capabilities, ultra-fast WiFi, a “cutting edge” 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 800 processor allowing users to “race around games, zip around the web, and switch between apps at the flick of a finger”.

The Nexus 5 also comes bundled with the latest Android software – Android 4.4 KitKat. Google says this will allow you to “focus on getting stuff done, and having fun too, without having to think about the technology underneath.”

Looking at the hardware, Google’s latest release comes with a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, an 8 megapixel camera on the back – complete with 1080p HD video recording. Just like on the Google Nexus 4.

At only 130g (compared to the Nexus 4 at 139g), the Nexus 5 will let you talk for up to 17 hours on a full battery, browse the internet for up to 8 and a half hours over WiFi, and surf the web for up to 7 hours over a 4G network.

Google have launched their brand new phone just in time for Christmas and will be competing against the likes of the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 5c, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One – some of the most latest phones out there at the moment.

The announcement was made today and already Google have launched the phone today. Available in either black or white, it’s up for sale on the Google Play Store for just £299 for the 16GB model or £339 for the 32GB model. At the moment (21:27 on 31st October 2013), it seems the black 16GB and 32GB models are the must haves because the device won’t be leaving the warehouse to get to you until up to the 8th of November, whereas the white model will be dispatched in 1-2 business days.
